Civic offers a range of clinical services tailored to improve the wellbeing and social participation of individuals.

Using a Person Centred Active Support (PCAS) approach, our Clinical specialists support people to achieve their goals and improve their quality of life.

We promote an inclusive and interdisciplinary approach, engaging clients and their support networks as well as other clinical and Allied Health services when required.

Assessments and therapy are evidence-based to ensure effective services are delivered.

    Civic’s nursing team provides patient-centered care to help individuals with their personal care needs and reviews. This includes:

     

    • Support and education to individuals, support networks and families
    • Report writing
    • Care planning
    • Wound management and plans
    • Catheter management and plans
    • Generalised personal supports

Meet the Civic Clinical Services Team

  • Ellen Banks

    Clinical Services Manager

    Ellen has over 20 years of experience working with people with disability, beginning her career as a Support Worker, Education Inclusion worker and then a Registered Nurse. She brings a wealth of experience across a range of settings including aged care, surgery, critical care and community settings.

    Ellen joined Civic as head of Clinical, leading a multi-disciplinary team responsible for providing person-centered support with a strong health and wellbeing focus.

    She loves working with clients and their support networks to create new and innovative ways to help them achieve their goals.

  • Tanja Halpert

    Clinical Psychologist

    With over 20 years of experience, Tanja has held a variety of roles in mental health, disability and private practice. She joined the Civic team in 2013 and provides a range of support to clients and external providers including behaviour support, individual counselling, staff training and supervision of peers and students.

    Tanja’s collaborative approach helps staff understand the vital role they play in implementing positive changes. No matter how small a change might be, she is dedicated to improving every client’s quality of life.

  • Mary Lockett

    Behaviour Support Practitioner

    Mary brings a broad range of experience to Civic’s Clinical Team, with a background in Special Education, Applied behaviour analysis and Addiction Counselling.

    Mary has 3.5 years of experience writing functional assessments, behaviour support plans, training staff, fading restrictive practices, and setting up supported accommodation with external stakeholders.

    Mary’s expertise lies in forensic mental health, acquired brain injury, dementia, neurologic disorders, personality disorders, eating disorders and behavioural addictions.

  • Rocio Venegas

    Behaviour Support Practitioner

    Rocio started her career in the disability industry in 2017 as a Support Worker. Since then, she progressed to Team Leader and is now one of Civic’s Behaviour Support Practitioners.

    Rocio is passionate about supporting clients so they can make well-informed decisions about their care. She takes great pleasure in seeing how small changes in a client’s day-to-day life can have an incredible impact on their wellbeing.

  • Lucy Riechelmann

    Behaviour Support Practitioner

    Joining Civic in 2022, Lucy’s first role was as an Employment Support Partner in Civic Industries. Every day, she worked closely with supported employees to build their skills and knowledge and develop attainable career goals.

    Lucy now brings her Civic experience and Psychology degree to our Clinical Services Team as a Behaviour Support Practitioner. She provides a high level of support and care to those she works with and takes great pride in implementing strategies that make a difference to a client’s wellbeing.

  • Aminata Bangura

    Clinical Nurse Consultant 

    Aminata started in the disability industry as a Support Worker before gaining her nursing registration.

    Her nursing experience spans Pediatrics, Intensive Care Unit (ICU), Aged Care, Cardiothoracic and Respiratory and she has gained extensive clinical experience in providing holistic nursing care. She’s also mentored the next generation of nurses through leadership roles including Team Leader, Preceptor and Clinical Facilitator.

    Aminata is passionate about advocating for clients and ensuring they receive the best possible care.

  • Payton Wilson

    Clinical Nurse Consultant 

    With her background in oncology, hematology, chemotherapy and emergency, Payton brings a wealth of nursing experience to Civic’s Clinical Team.

    Looking for a new challenge, she transitioned to the disability sector in 2023 and now loves spending her days supporting clients to achieve their goals and reach their full potential.
