NDIS Positive Behaviour Support

Did you know Civic now has a team of experienced NDIS Registered Positive Behaviour Support Practitioners with capacity for new clients?

NDIS Positive Behaviour Support (PBS) is designed to support individuals to improve social skills and develop positive coping strategies that, together, minimise behaviours of concern. It’s the role of the Behaviour Support Practitioner to work with each individual to understand the meaning of certain behaviours, in order to then work together with the individual and their supports to create tailored approaches that improve and promote wellbeing, independence and community participation.

The first step is to understand why a behaviour is happening. Our Behaviour Support Practitioners complete comprehensive behaviour assessments to identify the underlying cause of a behaviour. This understanding allows the Practitioner to develop a Behaviour Support Plan.

A Behaviour Support Plan is a clear and structured document that outlines personalised strategies and recommendations designed to address challenging behaviours. It will outline strategies that promote positive behaviours, support independence and teach emotional regulation.

NDIS Positive Behaviour Support is often recommended for individuals with intellectual disability, Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD), ADHD or psychosocial disabilities who experience behavioural challenges, difficulties regulating emotions or barriers to social inclusion. Our NDIS registered Practitioners are experienced in navigating the specific needs of each individual and work collaboratively with individuals to engage with them and their existing allied health providers to ensure a holistic approach.
