Civic selected to deliver social and affordable housing under the Housing Australia Future Fund

Housing Australia has unveiled the projects that will be funded under the first tranche of its Future Fund program. As a Tier 3 registered Community Housing Provider, Civic has been selected to deliver two projects under the Housing Australia Future Fund Facility (HAFFF), which together will deliver 28 social and affordable housing dwellings in Sutherland Shire.

“This funding is an important step towards addressing Australia’s housing crisis, which is felt exponentially by low-income households, essential workers and those otherwise disadvantaged by society,” says Civic CEO, Annie Doyle. “Civic is extremely proud to be drawing on our expertise to diversify and grow our community housing business to meet the housing needs of our local community.”

The Housing Australia Future Fund is a $10 billion investment fund established by the Federal Government and administered by Housing Australia. The Fund will deliver 20,000 new social homes and 10,000 new affordable homes across Australia over a five-year period.

“Thanks to the Fund, Civic will be able to move forwards with two property developments, located in Heathcote and Bangor, which will deliver 17 social and 11 affordable housing units across the two developments,” says Patrick Ryan, General Manager Commercial and Diversification at Civic.

“The housing crisis in Australia significantly impacts those with disability, limiting their access to affordable, accessible housing and putting them at increased risk of homelessness,” says Ms Doyle. “Civic has a long and established history supporting those with disability across Greater Sydney. We are thrilled that Housing Australia recognises this expertise to extend our social impact for tenants in need of safe, secure and high quality social and affordable housing. The completed projects will enable us to deliver purpose-built,  inclusive and accessible communities.”

Work will commence on the projects in the coming months, and Civic expects to complete the projects in mid and late 2026.

Ends.
