Civic Café Nowra was recently recognised by Shoalhaven City Council, earning itself an Outstanding Small Business Award at the 2019 Kiama Electorate Community Recognition Awards.
Presented by Gareth Ward, Minister for Families, Communities and Disability Services, the café was recognised for its work in providing employment for individuals with disability.
Joel Grove, Civic’s Food Experience Manager, accepted the award alongside CEO, Annie Doyle, together with supported employee, Christine.
“Civic Café in North Nowra received their award for outstanding efforts in providing an exceptional catering service throughout the Shoalhaven, along with their role is providing employment and opportunities for local people with a disability,” states the Kiama Independent.
“Our region is truly blessed with talented and passionate local people,” said Kiama MP and event host, Gareth Ward.
“My thanks to the Mayor of Kiama Mark Honey for his Civic Welcome, Councillors Kathy Rice and Mark Way who were in attendance, Aunty Joyce Donovan who performed the Welcome to Country and MC Tony Arthur from ABC Illawarra.”
Other award recipients on the day were known for their contribution to community, answering the call of service above self.
